Room Etiquette
If you decide you want to sing then raise your hand and wait your turn. If you jump the mic you will be red dotted and even bounced from the room. The queue is there for a reason, others in the queue are waiting patiently. Also be respectful of people who are singing they may not be as good as you but that doesn't mean you can abuse them, they have as much right to sing as you do. Remember that you probably wouldn't like someone telling you that you were not very good. Obviously any one found to be disrespectful will be bounced.
If the host or an admin gives someone else the microphone before you it is probably because the person lost their hand due to a restart or a problem with their PC. The host is in charge of the room and what they say goes.
Please try and make sure that you have checked your sound before trying to sing as the host will red dot any singer who's sound quality is not suitable for the room. After all no one wants to hear someone who's sound is more like a hiss, hum or crackle instead of a beautiful vocal sound. If you have problems an admin in the room MAY be able to help you. Just remember not to swallow the microphone and end up sounding like your about to take off in a 747. Distorted vocals don't sound good so try and test it out before you sing after all you want the people in the room to hear your fantastic voice, don't you?
Also remember that if there are five or less hands up the usual room form is to do two songs, if there are more than five hands then it is only one song per singer, if you try and hog the mic , yep you guessed it BOIIIINNNNNNNGGGGGGG, you'll get bounced or if your lucky just red dotted
